—All That Dance proudly presents “Flashback” on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Sinagua Middle School. Showtime is at 6 p.m. This will be our tenth anniversary show celebrating ten years of our annual end of the year performances by All That Dance. The showcase will be an exciting array of dances that featuring music and dance from past recitals. With almost 200 dancers of all ages, this production includes jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theater, contemporary and hip-hop dance styles.
Recently dancers from All That Dance competed and won top honors at Showbiz dance competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Delaney Merrick, a member of Junior Company and our ballet apprentice corps, competed her jazz solo, “I Gotcha” and won first place in her division, 6th place overall and the title of Jr. Miss Showbiz. The duet of Senior Hip Hop dancers, Eva Ramirez and Angelica Harmsworth competed their award winning dance, “Lemme See” and won a double platinum first place in the their division and first place overall in the Senior Duo/Trio category. Senior company dancers won first place in their group dances, “Mein Herr,” “Falling Slowly,” and “Seven Nation Army.” Senior soloists Kayla Biro placed 8th overall, Nick Reynolds took 3rd place and Megan Bayer won 1st place in the senior solos. Megan and Nick won the title Miss & Mr. Showbiz. “I love the fact that the national media is dedicating so much air time to dance; however, there is nothing like witnessing it first-hand at a local performance,” says Kristin Jensen, All That Dance’s Ballet director and Jr. Miss Showbiz, Delaney Merrick’s and Mr. Showbiz, Nick Reynolds’s award winning choreographer.
All That Dance has been going strong for ten years now, and the enrollment has reflected the growing interest in dance and love of the arts here in Flagstaff and surrounding cities. "Since my first year at All That Dance, the students, parents, and staff have shown a great level of commitment towards the art of dance. This is has been shown through the dancers' strong improvement in technique and performance. I am excited to see them all shine on stage and I can't wait to continue to share my love of dance to Flagstaff," says owner, Rhonda Harris.
During the performance, the talented and diverse dancers of All That Dance will perform alongside the award winning Junior and Senior Hip-Hop Teams and the Mini, Junior and Senior Company dancers, will also showcase some of their top competition pieces. All dances in the performance are age appropriate and family friendly, so feel free to bring children to the show. “I am ecstatic to show our recent winners from the Showbiz competition in Las Vegas,” stated Sarah Gibbs, company teacher of All That Dance and choreographer of Megan Bayer’s award winning dance, “Riot Rhythm.”
