All That Dance Tops in Hip Hop



(Flagstaff, Arizona, July 31, 2017)—Dancers from All That Dance attended the Starpower Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month. All That Dance was awarded sixteen 1st place trophies, five 5 Star Awards and eleven, top ten plaques in the overall categories. All That Dance’s six teams to attend were the Junior, Intermediate and Advanced Company and Junior, Intermediate and Senior Hip Hop Teams.

The hip hop trio from All That Dance won 1st place trophy in Hip Hop, a 5 Star Award and special recognition for “Funky Females” for their dance, “Girl Talk,” and placed 5th overall in the nation in the Senior duo/trio division. Dancers are Dani Loera, Thea Morfin and Kaylee Scheel. The Senior Hip Hop team won 1st place in Hip Hop for “Say My Name,” a 5 Star Award and 8th place overall in the senior, small groups division. These dancers are Chloe Doha, Dani Loera, Thea Morfin, Kaylee Scheel and Madison Valdes. Their other dance, “Hypnotize,” also placed 9th in the overalls in the same division.

Advanced and Intermediate Company won 1st in Pom, a 5 Star Award and a special recognition by the judges for “Ripples Galore,” in the teen, large group division for their pom pon routine to “Working Day and Night.” This is studio owner, Rhonda Harris’s 2nd year in a row to win 1st place in Pom. Company dancers are: Ellie Aldridge, Helyn Belsanti, Jillian Fenley, Shelby Hayes, Delaney Merrick, Natalie Odem, Kendall Phillips, Bailee Ramsey, Suzi Reed, Kali Reynolds, Ashlee Sandoval, Tavi Sawulski, Gabbie Singleton and Layne Tritle.

Junior Hip Hop Team dancers, Arianna Alderette, Jordyn Martin and Madeline Miller won 1st in hip hop for their rendition of “I Walk the Line,” in the junior, novice division and placed 7th overall. The Junior duet of Helyn Belsanti and Tavi Sawulski won 1st in jazz for “Bad Case of Loving You,” and 9th place overall in the same division. The Intermediate Hip Hop Trio of Josslyn Boettcher, Jordan Fendley and Kayleigh Smith also brought home a 1st place trophy in hip hop in the junior age division. Hip Hop team dancers combined for another 1st place trophy in hip hop and placed 5th overall in the junior, small groups division. Those dancers performing to “Dangerous,” were Arianna Alderetter, Josslyn Boettcher, Jordan Fendley, Jordan Martin, Madeline Miller, Kayleigh Smith and Layne Tritle.

Sr. Hip Hop team dancer, Thea Morfin won a 1st place trophy in hip hop in the teen solos. Dani Loera also won a 1st place trophy in hip hop in the senior solos. Company dancer, Gabbie Singleton was awarded with a 1st place trophy in jazz and a 5 Star Award for her dance. The duet of Gabbie Singleton and Bailee Ramsey also won a 1st place trophy in their jazz duet. Kali Reynolds won a 1st place trophy in jazz in the senior solos.

Company dancer, Tavi Sawulski won a 1st place trophy for her lyrical dance, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps and placed 7th overall in the teen, solo division. Her team mate, Jillian Fenley placed 8thoverall. Helyn Belsanti won 1st trophy in Lyrical, a 5 Star Award and placed 7th overall in the junior solo division. Layne Tritle also won a 5 Star Award. Jordan Fendley won a 1st place trophy in Tap.

Finishing out the top awards was Junior Company with a 1st place trophy in Jazz for “Ease on Down the Road,” which also placed 7th overall in the junior, small groups. Dancers from Junior Company are: Sophia Padilla, Hannah Steagall, Johanna Thebert and Colibri Del Valle. “I Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a lyrical dance won 10th place overall in the same division.
Teachers choreographing dances from All That Dance were Ashley Christopher, Victoria Grant, Shana Perrien, Nicole Lloyd, Eva Ramirez, Jessica Aponte, Rhonda Harris, Kerry Kenley, Bailee Kerulis and Jillian Quintanal.

The members of Company and Hip Hop teams are required to audition every year. They perform in various local events, attend dance workshops and conventions as well as competition. Company auditions will take place August 18th at 4 pm. Hip Hop team auditions will be held on August 19th at 11 am at All That Dance. Dancers who have never tried out for either group must attend an audition workshop August 14-17th. Classes start August 21st for all classes.
